Cebu 2011

We went to Cebu City last April 29 – May 1.

We are in Cebu!
We roamed around SM and Ayala Center Cebu, had a feast in dinner buffet of Crown Regency Hotel, became 'high' in Sky Walk and Edge Coaster, tasted the most delicious lechon care of CNT Lechon, climbed stairs in Taoist Temple, indulged ourselves in different barbecue at Larsian and went to Magellan's Cross

SM Cebu
From Mactan International Airport going to SM Cebu, our taxi fare is 176.50 pesos. It is a four-storey building near the seaport. It is a typical SM mall that has boutiques, cinemas, department store, two food courts and grocery among others.
We already ate at Marina's Lechon (located in the food court) when we learned that there is a stall of CNT lechon in the other food court, near the grocery. We were able to watch Thor in 3D in one of its cinema. Aside from being 3D, cinema 8 of SM also have an additional feature where some seats vibrate when the scene is intense.

Dinner Buffet at Crown Regency Hotel
This is one of the best buffet that I ever had!
There were so many dishes and foods to choose from. And all of them are delicious too! Walang panapon. I can eat a lot but even I were not able to taste all the foods that they offer. It has Filipino foods, Japanese foods, Itallian foods, Western foods, delicious foods and many foods =). Different fruits and desserts are also available. And they also have a live band. Together with tickets to a 4D movie, Sky Walk and Edge Coaster, this dinner buffet is offered at 990 pesos per head. This was a pleasant experience indeed.

Sky Walk and Edge Coaster
Sky walk is located on the 37th floor of Crown Regency Hotel. This is where you put on an orange suit, strapped yourself to a pair of rope for safety then unwillingly walk on a ledge just outside the window of the floor. I'm not really afraid of heights but this walk got my knees shaking. But don't make me wrong, this is fun! (even though I wondered for a while why did I even pay to do this) The view of Cebu city at night is also great. The downside is that you cannot bring any camera in here. They have an official photographer though. But the pictures cannot be copied. It can only be printed for 230 pesos. Yup, its quite expensive. But still, we get one picture printed as a souvenir.

Edge coaster is where you ride a two-seat coaster that moves along the edge of the roof top of Crown Regency Hotel. At the beginning of the ride, the coaster is tilted at 50 degrees towards the edge. But the tilting can be controlled. It can be tilted from zero degree to... I really don't know because we did not try to tilt it beyond zero degree.
After the Sky walk and Edge coaster, we were given two certificates for each ride.
Kaya ganyan ang pose ko, nangangatog pa kase tuhod ko kaya di ako makatayo ng maayos

Yabang nag-SkyWalk, di halatang natakot. =p

Taoist Temple

Ita-translate ko sana to para sa inyo. Pero nag-blog na nga ako eh, magta-translate pa. Kalabisan na yun
Taoist temple can be found on Beverly Hills Subdivision. From Fuente Circle, we rode a taxi to the temple. Our fare is around 70 pesos. And yes, it is a temple for the Taoist. It has a lot of stairs, saints, stairs, dragon statue and did I mention stairs?

From the Taoist temple, we walk to the gate of the subdivision and ride at the back of a scooter that brought us to the place where we could ride a jeep to Ayala Center Cebu. Fare is 15 pesos per head. But we were told earlier by the security guard at the Taoist temple that the fare should be 10 pesos only. Oh well.

Ayala Center Cebu
I think that Ayala Center Cebu is much better than Trinoma. It is also called Ayala Terraces maybe because it has many, yes, you guess it right, terraces. It has a large open space in the middle where a concert was being held when we were there.
 CNT Lechon
CNT Lechon is famous even among locals in Cebu. They have branches in Rama St, near SM Cebu, inside SM Cebu and also in Ayala Center, where we were able to taste it. Price of the lechon is 130 per 250 gram. It is really tasty and it has live up to our expectation, or maybe even beyond.
Good thing it was 120/80 for me that day. (photo by steph)
Larsian
Larsian is near Fuente Circle, just at the back of Chong Hua Hospital . It offers different kind of barbecues.
Upon entering Larsian, we chose a barbecue stall and bought isaw, pork barbecue, squid and chicken barbecue. A triangular-shaped rice wrapped with a leaf is also given to us. It is called pu-so and price is 3 pesos each.
The foods are great. Our bill is around P190 pesos and that includes a 1 liter of coke, 6 pu-so, and many isaws, pork bbq, chicken bbq and grilled squid. You might need a shower after eating at Larsian because you will be smelling like barbecue too.
Hindi mataas na exposure ang setting ko, mausok lang talaga.

Magellan's Cross
Magellan's Cross is located near Sto. Nino Church. We went there before going to the airport for our flight back to Manila. If you want to know more about the history of Magellan's Cross, click here. In there, some locals will ask you to buy candles from them and they would perform the offering of the candles by dancing and saying prayers. They say that different color of the candles have different meaning.
An old picture of Magellan's Cross. (Actually, naka-sepia lang at mataas ang ISO.)

As indicated in the above picture, the original cross is now encased in a tindalo wood. This is because some people get a part of the cross or chipped a part and then put it in their oils or drinks because they believe that it can cure diseases.

Those are the places that we went to. And I love it! I'll definitely go back to Cebu again. And next time, I'll be exploring the beaches and other islands in Cebu (Bantayan Island anyone???).

Until next time. Thanks for reading. I'll be roaming around now.
